Sad News

I received the following email from Sue Heiderscheidt today.

"C J (also known as Beaver) and Sherry Heiderscheidt"s middle daughter, Stacie, passed away July 4 from complications of Lupus. She just turned 45 on July 2.  She is survived by her husband, a 15 year old son and a 8 year old daughter, her parents and 2 sisters."

Changes

Things will be looking a little different this fall! This is a current view of the intersection of Texas Blvd. and 18th St. New traffic signals, and more as the city gets ready for an increased traffic flow.

And here is the Neighborhood Walmart Grocery store that will be opening this fall.

Independence Day 2014

The folks at Leisure World lived it up on the 4th of July, celebrating the anniversary of our nation's independence! Jerry and Cindy Keesee outdid themselves in throwing a party for all of us. Hamburgers and hot dogs from the grill, all kinds of trimmings and a table full of salads, sides and desserts provided by the residents! And a really good time was had by all!
Cindy spent the morning decorating and setting up for the 5:30 pm festivities.

Of course everything was displaying the red, white and blue theme.

Lucy and her daughter were among the early arrivals...and they arrived ready to celebrate!

Jim and Maria Gray got there in time to pick out prime seating locations, too.

Soon the conversation level dominated the background patriotic songs Jerry had on the CD player.

The salad, side dish and dessert table was soon sagging under the contributions.

While the conversation didn't lag, there were a few that were waiting impatiently for the "Let's Eat" announcement.

Bob and Thelma Watkins kept and eye on me, as did my keeper, Carol, at the other end of the table.

Sometimes it's necessary to get close up for a really good conversation, as Shirley Remillard demonstrates for us.

Jim and Shelley Grandstaff are enjoying the pre-prandial chatting.

Helen Mott plays the you shoot me, I'll shoot you photo game with yours truly.

Eva Uptertgrove arrives ready for the food and fun.

And this is the reason we are all here!

Generous desserts.

The "sides" table was loaded.

Cindy was just about ready to start serving when Jerry delivered his handiwork from the grill.

Still time for a little more conversation.

Tena and Alex Kane joined us today.

Shirley really takes her conversation seriously.

Ray LaFoe practiceS bottoms up, while Pat eyes the wine bottle.

Clem Del Campo discusses his eye with Helen Mott.

And the table is full, time to eat.

Clem continues with his gesticulating, while we know the start time is near because that's Cindy Jalife in attendance.

Danny is the center of attention as the dinner bell is rung.

The line is moving, the plates are filling.

And filling, and filling

And filling, as the line gets longer.

Even in line you can't pass up the opportunity for a little more conversation.

And a rousing wave of flags caps our celebration

Jerry tries a "popper"

While Eula comments on her 2nd Independence Day celebration today.

And the whole party is topped off with some very inept hula hoop artists.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO OUR NATION, AND TO ALL OUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS...IN TEXAS, ON THE ROAD, AND CELEBRATING AT THEIR NORTHERN HOMES!
