We will be known forever by the tracks we leave.  (Dakota)

A Trip To Madison, Wisconsin

Saturday, we traveled to Madison, Wisconsin where we had the honor to attend our granddaughter's bridal shower.  This has been a fun time attending these events and we can't wait for August to get here as that will be her wedding.  I know some of you have met our daughter Lynsley, but not sure if you've met our granddaughter.  (of course as much as I talk about her, you should know her....)
Phyllis Connett, Granddaughter Dani Rae Hipsky with her mother (our daughter) Lynsley Hipsky.
Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue - she received a very old cook book that has been handed down on her fiancĂ© side of the family.
On the "personal" side, she received a nice rose gold "MRS" necklace from a very dear close friend.  She can't wear it for another month or so yet....  We had a great time visiting with friends, family and met new friends from the other side....

Dick has been going through cataract surgery.  He now has the left eye done and will be having the right eye done on July 12th.  He is doing fine and hopefully will do the same for the next one.  All else good in Freeport, just keeping busy.

A Note from the Cantu's

Jerry and Diane Cantu would like to express their heartfelt thanks to our Leisure World "family " for all the prayers, cards and phone calls on the passing of Diane's father and the passing of our brother- in - law one week later. Your kindness was greatly appreciated and reinforced why we love Leisure World and it's residents....

A thought for today.

News from Freeport, Illinois

Dick and Phyllis Connett have been very busy since returning north from our home in Leisure World.  We've attended two wedding showers and two weddings.  Two down and two more to go...
Mr. & Mrs. Max Colby - Our daughters step-daughter was the second marriage at Clear Lake, Iowa.

Our two grandsons, Denver and
Dakota were ushers for the wedding -
posing with their mother (our
daughter)
Carrie Lea Connett Christensen

This all took place at Clear Lake, Iowa.  Dick got to do a little fishing and we got a lot of relaxing in while there.  Had a great time.
Phyllis' big family reunion is also behind us.  This was held in Prairie City, Iowa with an attendance of 104.  A lot of cousins we haven't seen in years.  We camped at my nieces farm on Mockingbird Hill which they have made into a camp site with electric and water hookups.  It was so peaceful.  Some of the cousins also camped for the weekend. Had a great visit taking my niece out for lunch.  Had the best tenderlions and of course had to finish up with ice cream....

While in Iowa, we attended Phyllis' High School Alumni Banquet at Runnells.  Sixteen in the 1959 class, twelve still surviving but only seven of us showed.

Phyllis and Janice went through grade school and
high school together.  It was
fun to see the classmates and
we all had a great time.

We visited the local cemeteries while there during the memorial weekend, and visited the new museum that has opened in the small town where Phyllis grew up.

We also had the privilege to attend an award dinner for grandson Dakota, who was inducted in PAU Beta PI for Engineering at Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa.  He is now doing an intern job in San Antonio, Texas for the summer.

Dick was once again behind the camera, so didn't get in the picture...

Also grandson Joseph was inducted into the University of Wisconsin - Platteville Chapter of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and Alpha Lamboa Delta National Academic Honor Society for Freshmen.  We are so proud of "our" young men.

We celebrated Dick's birthday by
going to Applebees with family, he
got the treat at the end of the meal...

Dick attended a fundraiser at the
Freeport Airport with friends.  Air-
plane rides and meal.
We have one RV camping trip with our group behind us and will soon be leaving for another one.  The summer isn't slowing down for us, it is just getting busier and busier as the days are flying by.  Will report in again soon - hope all is doing well in Leisure World.

Joys and Concerns

Tom Dorsey has had two strokes since their return home.  He is currently in rehab and making progress.  Please keep Tom, Cindy and family in your prayers as he continues to work hard to regain strength and good health.

Linda Belcher had surgery on June 17th to remove  a cyst from her neck.  The doctors removed the cyst and some of her vertebrae.  Prayers that the biopsy will be benign and that Linda will no longer be in pain.  She is receiving rehab in the hospital and that will continue at home.  Prayers that Pastor Charles will remain strong and healthy as he helps Linda return to good health.

I just received word that Alice Cockeril's daughter is not doing well.  She has reached a point in her
battle with cancer that she is on a morphine drip.  Please add Alice and her daughter to your prayer
list.  May God help them and the rest of their family through this difficult time.

Knobby & Betty's 80th celebration

Nine present and former Leisure World residents gathered in Omaha Saturday evening to help Knobby and Betty Meysenburg celebrate their 80th birthdays. Although it was hotter than heck we posed for a photo on the Meysenburg deck.

One Sunday, yesterday, we attended the celebration at the St. John Vinney Catholic Church social hall in Omaha. Family and friends from around the country came to also help them celebrate. The event was hosted by their family. Note, below, that the LL group picked up two more, Al and Hazel Oachs.
