Wally Bentt Update

Wally had the second operation on March 12. This actually was two operations. The first removed a vein from inside of his thigh. The surgeon then went into the original operation site and removed the infected prosthetic, and then replaced it with the piece of vein removed earlier. The surgery was 5 hours and 28 minutes. He would be in hospital for 8 days. On the fourth day they installed a wound-vac pump. This sucks fluids from the incision and keeps it sterile. This meant that he had two pumps to manage 24/7, one pumping in antibiotics through a PICC line, and the wound-vac pump. So he was really getting PUMPED and HOSED at the same time. It was not very convenient with all this hanging around. The surgeon removed the staples, stitches and wound-vac on April 4, but he would be on the antibiotic IV until April 24. The leg and foot were very numb and swollen and all he could get on was Crocks. They prescribed a compression sock which has reduced the swelling and he can now wear slippers or shoes. The numbness has receded so now he is almost back to his old self. The only thing left is to ensure that the infection does not return. So he is well on the way to normal.

We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and with luck we will see y’all next winter.

Stitchers Complete Yearlong Project

Jewett Powers and Shirley Marriner have toiled for a year making these two Bargello needlepoint pictures. Both used the same pattern, "Ambrosia Honey", which was featured in the Embroiderers' Guild of America quarterly magazine "NEEDLE ARTS". The designer shared a portion of the whole project in each of the last four issues, thus requiring a year to complete.

Easter Sunday

Fun time after dinner

Plans for Leaving

Our plans for leaving Leisure World this spring have changed. Instead of leaving Friday as planned we have extended our stay to Thursday the 19th. This was because of the weather back in Sibley, Iowa and surrounding area. The weatherman doesn't realize it is SPRING.They are having a good old fashioned blizzard back there. So we decided to stay here in Weslaco where it is nice and warm and we can go swimming and enjoy our friends down here. We will indeed keep checking to see what is happening back home but do hope to leave the 19th. I understand there are several other Winter Texans rechanging their plans as well.

We will meet you at the pool.
